Questions? We Have Answers
Our FAQ page answers common questions about our services, costs, billing, and processes. It helps you understand what to expect and how to get started. If you don’t find your question here, contact us—we’re happy to help.
What does Hoc Vere Positum mean?
It’s our firm’s motto, which means “It Really Depends” in Latin. Many legal issues depend on the specific needs of each client. Every case has its own unique facts and circumstances.
How do you bill for services?
It depends on the case… For services like wills, contracts, document reviews, and traffic tickets, we require full payment upfront. For adoptions and some divorces, we charge a flat fee that includes court costs. For contested divorces, we charge a minimum fee plus an hourly rate and court costs, billed weekly. Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice.
Do you offer free (Pro Bono) or reduced pricing?
We strive to offer competitive pricing. Pricing depends on the case’s circumstances. We take some cases Pro Bono, but we evaluate these on a case-by-case basis.
What should I bring to the first meeting?
Bring any documents related to your case. This may include identification, court documents, or other paperwork.
What should I do to prepare for my consultation with the attorney?
Bring all relevant documents and write down your questions. During the call, the attorney will ask for a brief overview of your goals. Being prepared helps you make the most of your consultation.
Do you work with military members?
Yes! As a prior military member, our attorney, Manny Moreno, understands the legal challenges faced by those in the military.
When should I hire an attorney?
It’s often best to hire an attorney as soon as possible. Waiting too long can give the opposing party an advantage. Ignoring the case will not make it go away.
How much will my case cost?
The cost depends on the facts of your case. For example, if you got married in Vegas on Friday and regret it by Monday, that divorce would cost less than a divorce after 30 years of marriage.
What if I cannot pay all the fees upfront?
We understand that legal issues can arrive when least expected. That’s why we offer payment plans and monthly billing options.
What is your specialty?
Manny Moreno, P.A. is a general practice firm. We focus on areas of law that affect everyday life.
How long must I be in Florida before I can file for divorce?
You must be a resident of Florida for at least six months before filing for divorce in a Florida court.
Who needs a will?
While a will is not legally required in Florida, dying without one means the state decides how to distribute your assets. Creating a will ensures your wishes are followed and eases the burden on your family.
What is the typical process?
1) Fill out our online Inquiry Form or call us at 904-698-3260 to schedule a free 30-minute phone consultation.
2) During the consultation, Attorney Moreno will review your case in detail.
3) If we accept your case, we will discuss the costs.
4) Once you agree to the terms, we will send a representation letter and contract.
5) After you sign the contract and make the initial payment, we’ll begin working on your case.
I’m a small business. Do my clients need to sign a contract?
Yes. If you expect payment for your work, a contract is essential. We can help you draft a contract or review your existing one to ensure it’s enforceable. A solid contract protects you and your business.
